Does the term "My Bad" irratate you?

WHAT A COP OUT THIS PHRASE IS!

I detest hearing someone saying "My bad" and especially if that person is older than a teenager.  To me it means the person knows they did or said something wrong but they sure aren't apologizing for doing/saying it.  Is this ghetto speak or what?  Or maybe another slang term like "baby daddy".   I sure would hate to hear a professional say this!

I also think it's usually said in a rather condescending tone which makes it even worse.  To me its not sincere at all.  What's wrong with saying "oops I made a mistake" or "sorry about that".  Either of those is much better and these not only states a mistake was made but apologizes about the mistake. When someone says it to me or around me,  I have upon occasion immediately asked "your bad what  --  bad attitude, bad mistake, bad day, bad language, bad what??"

Each time I hear it I picture in my mind a naughty but haughty snotty nosed child saying the words.  Even if it actually is an adult I still picture the snot nosed child.

If they don't want to come out and say they made a mistake maybe it would be better if they spoke in Italian to say they made a mistake and say "mea culpa".  That way most people wouldn't know the person is admitting to a mistake.  But saying "me bad" just doesn't get it in my book!   Maybe I shouldn't even care but maybe I'm getting more sensitive about our American language in my old age.   Hard nosed aren't I.?!?! And, that's coming from the trailer park trash humor queen!

There are some best lines in movies which will never be forgotten.  Of course there were some that should have been forgotten because they were just horrible.

Some of my most favorite movie lines are:

Plinkity Plunkity Snipity Flipity

Now that was a mouthful!

Somewhere in my mind there is a phrase going around and around.....it keeps saying "plinkity plunkity snipity flipity".  Don't you just hate it when a song or some other phrase gets stuck in low gear in your mind?!  There's usually no easy way out of it and sometimes just keep listening to that dang phrase going over and over in my mind.

About the only way I can get it out is to take a nap.  Now, most of the time, I'm willing to do that, but sometimes that nap just isn't possible.  Take for instance if I have company......if I drop off to sleep in front of my guests, they will think I've flipped.  But when I keep hearing that phrase, I begin to think I have flipped.

One of the other ways I've found I can get rid of horrible stuck thoughts in my mind is to sing.....especially "I'm A Little Teapot".  I even act it out and  show where my handle is and even pour out the spout.  By the time I get to the end of the first verse, my mind is clear.  Except now, instead of having "plinkity, plunkity snipity, flipity, in my mind, I have I'm A Little Teapot.    But.....the teapot song makes a whole lot more sense than the plinkity plunkity phrase which doesn't make a whole lot of sense any way you look at it.

Another thing which usually will help me clear the mind of gosh awful phrases is to start saying the Lord's Prayer.  And at the end, say, Amen...but add "Please Lord, help me get this dang awful  phrase out of my mind".  Keep reciting that prayer....and if you say it enough times, it will not only cleanse your mind of the dang awful phrases like plinkity, plunkity, snipity, flipity,  but it will allow you enough prayer and Lord's House time that you won't have to go to church for at least two weeks.  And if you repeat it enough, you might be free on Sunday mornings for a month.....no church time at all.

You all know that by reading this article and with my constant repeating of the phrase,  I have just transferred my dang awful phrase..... "plinkity, plunkity, snipity, flipity" to your mind.  Your minds now will start saying this over and over.  I can just see a bunch of readers now, standing up and starting the I'm A Little Teapot routine.  Be sure to place your hand on your hip for the handle and bend your elbow and wrist for the spout on the other side.

Or, maybe you would rather get out of going to church for a few Sundays, so instead, you're reciting the Lord's Prayer over and over again....and with the plea at the end for the Lord to help you rid your mind of the dang awful phrase, "plinkity, plunkity, snipity, flipity".

Thank you readers, my mind is now free of that dang awful phrase....I wrote enough times for my own mind to be sick of it, and my old mind just threw it out.....YAY....clear mind.  At least until the next time a phrase catches up with me.

Bureaucracy defends the status quo long past

Have you an ultimate dream?  Most people do.  Some realize their ultimate dream, while others don't.

It has always been said that if you tell your wish, it won't come true, but I don't know if you tell what your ultimate dream is, then that  ultimate dream won't come true.

Some persons ultimate dreams are so far fetched, the dreams most likely will never come to fruition.  While others might have an ultimate dream which could be accomplished in a whizz.

Sometimes I have a multitude of ultimate dreams, some of them I would consider easy fixes/accomplishments while others will most likely never come to life since many others are involved.  I'm going to trust that by telling you some of my ultimate dreams, they will still able to come true event though I told someone....so here goes.

Ultimate Dreams with some which might not come true (just a small amount of my ultimate dreams):
*  To see the human race at peace....all over the world.
*  To live life to the fullest and be able to remain positive all of my life.
*  To realize my pursuit of blissful happiness.
*  To become a photographer.
*  To become a celebrated author.
*  To own a successful place of business.
*  To become filthy rich.
*  To become beautiful...well at least with fewer face sags and a skinny body.

My Most ultimate dream is to have an easy life, with no hardships and ability to live life to the fullest with a painless death which is easy and quick with a peaceful atmosphere surrounding me.

Just follow your heart....it's the way to have your ultimate dream come true.  I sincerely hope you can someday accomplish some of your ultimate dreams.  I plan to.

How To Pick A Bottle Of Wine

Wine Wine The Musical Fruit.....Drink that is.

Directions for picking a bottle of wine are simple.  Go into the store.  Go to the Wine Department.  Start looking for bottles with caps rather than corks.  Corks are hard to get out of the bottle and make the wine more expensive.

Look for a name which looks German.  German wines are tasty.  If it looks like it was made in someone's backyard, don't buy it as it will give you the sh*ts.   You can tell these by looking for dirt on the bottle or crud floating on the inside.

Caps on the bottle will assure you easy entrance to the beautiful and glorious wine product.  Just give the cap one smooth twist and the cap will be off.  Caps might give you the idea the wine is cheap, but it might still be really tasty as long as the cap hasn't rusted on the underside.

Red wines go really well with beef bologna.  It cuts the fat and proteins in beef so "Red" is always a good choice when your bologna is made with beef.  When you eat pasta, your wine choice depends on the pasta sauce.  Good old goulash made with tomatoes and ground turkey is best with an Italian white wine.  It doesn't matter what the cost is as long as it tickles your taste buds.  Again, make sure it hasn't been made by three men and their six mules.  Best to taste it and as long as it doesn't taste like shoe polish, keep tasting it until you're satisfied with the cheapness.  Make sure these cheap wines DO NOT have a cork as the cork might be eaten by the wine and that ain't good.

Of course good old cheap Port sometimes can show you a good time.  It used to be known as the drink of winos....now it's just a generic wine.  But watch it!  It can lead to a life of wine crime.....so don't drink it all the time.  Generic wine just ain't for the living or, for those who want to go on living.

At this time,  I'm donning my wine buying attire.  A shawl, a bandanna over one eye, a hat with a big brim, and a shopping bag.  My only hope is no one recognizes me as I buy my rot gut, my Boone's Farm and my Port generic wines.  They might notice me more if I went undisguised....or maybe not.

Quote For The Day

Forgive your enemies,
but never forget their names.
--John F. Kennedy

When I was in the Miss America Pageant, it was a truly traumatic experience.

The bathing suit I wore was a nice one piece I had since high school, and this pageant was 15 years later.  The evening dress I wore was the one I wore at the senior prom.  It had a slight stain from the punch but, it wasn't too noticeable.

At the time, I was still wearing "high hair" in the front, with about one can of hair spray per "do".  That style stayed in for years after high school, but the other pageant contestants didn't know that and were wearing longer and more straighter cuts.  Poor things!  Who could not like the "bouffant"!!!

I made it through the swimsuit part, then the evening gown, and then came the question drawing.  I reached in and drew out my question.  When I was handing it to the master of ceremonies, it fell out of my hand.  I just knew that I had lost at that point.  Dropping the questions, was a taboo.  Then the emcee asked the question!  "If you could be on the cover of any magazine, which would it be and why?"

My answer to the question was quite easy.  I knew that all men liked Playboy magazine and loved to look at the cover and the centerfold and that really mattered to me, so my answer was "Playboy".  And the why part was easy too .....  I said I wanted to be noticed!  Everyone clapped and I just knew I'd won.

The names of the runners-up began, but mine wasn't read so I just knew I was going to get that crown.  Then the emcee said they were going to announce the winner of the comedian award.....he said my name....I won that award for the funniest contestant, chosen by the other girls in the pageant.  Dang it, I didn't want to win this award.....I wanted that crown.  But no, I didn't win.

The moral of this story is definitely:   if you ever are in a Miss America contest, be sure to get your ball gown cleaned first so the spot doesn't show.  And keep your funny mouth closed, as you definitely don't want to win that funniest contestant award .....  Miss Congeniality maybe, but not the most likely to be funny.  And probably need to say you would like to be on the cover of the Magazine called Time rather than Playboy.  Oh well, maybe in my next life.

Funniest Cartoon Character Ever

What's your most favorite cartoon character??

Watching cartoons was one of my most favorite things to do as a kid and I can truthfully say, I still like to watch the old ones.  I have some VHS tapes of some really old cartoons and I still laugh like an old hyena.

Among my top ten old time characters would be Micky Mouse, Road Runner, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck, Casper, Porky Pig, Fred Flintstone, Tweety Bird.

Sure there were lots of other great characters, but these just always were my most favorites.

I loved to hear Tweety Bird say "I tawt I taw a puddy tat".  And "whats up" coming out of Bug's mouth was hilarious.  Mickey's big ears and his pleasant personality won the hearts of many even though he didn't have a lot of memorable quotes.

Who could forget "be vewy vewy quiet, I'm hunting wabbits"; Elmer Fudd's favorite and most remarkable quote. And everyone remembers Porky Pig saying "th th th th th that's all folks".  And Daffy Duck's famous words "you're despicable" made me laugh and laugh.  The Road Runner only said "Beep Beep" but it was his antics which were so funny.

What better way to start your day than to remember those wonderful Looney Tunes characters.   These were  wonderful things for a kid to grow up with and to be able to remember highlights for a lifetime.....just like I did.

Quote For The Day
A lifetime of happiness!
No man alive could bear it;
it would be hell on earth.
--George Bernard Shaw

Let's say you had a choice .... to be stranded on a tropical island alone or with someone you hated, which would you choose?

That is a difficult decision as I see it.  To be alone out there in the ocean and on that lonely island would probably be a horrible thing to go through.  However, choosing to be with your most hated person might be even worse as you might end up killing each other during one of your most heated arguments.

Being alone on an island means you only have one person's knowledge about survival.  But having two person's knowledge and abilities, as well as manpower, would enable you to be more creative....that is if the hated person would cooperate.

There hasn't been too many people that I can say I actually hated so much that I couldn't stand to be on a tropical island with.   I would hope that being secluded there with only one person would, at least at some point, mean a bond of some type would result and perhaps even a friendship.

I guess my choice is to be there with the hated foe.  If I chose wrong, I suppose no one else in the world would ever know if a bond or friendship resulted, because the chances of anyone finding me and this hated person would be pretty slim.   I guess both of us would probably spend our last days on that tropical island out in the middle of nowhere either hating or loving each other.

Boredom Leads To .....

What do you think....does boredom lead to things?

To me boredom can cause many things which are either bad for our health or bad for us in general or downright terrible things like strange behavior......BUT....boredom can also result in creativeness and adventure and even healthy brain stimulation.

Give me a handful of gizmos or whatever and I usually can create something.....even if I'm bored.....and usually the more bored I am the better the result.

But I know persons who bask in boredom and want even more....the more bored they are, the more bored they want to be.  To me ....if such persons don't find a healthy environment to entertain their mind, then boredom could very well lead to them becoming really stale....like an old loaf of bread.  To me, most persons who are responsible adults, can lift the life of boredom and would most likely be easily entertained in life.....doing creative things.

Boredom....is it for you????  In today's environment of high gas prices, high food prices and everything else that's expensive, just managing your finances should keep everyone from being wrapped in the embraces of boredom.  Life should never be boring....it should be exhilarating.  So go for it....crawl out of your boredom hole if you're there!!!

Eat Yourself Skinny

How in the world do you eat yourself skinny?

I just saw an advertisement and the headlines were "Eat Yourself Skinny".  Wow....I would love that.  So I clicked on that Fairy Tale.
I had to see what false hope this site was giving people.

It was recipes for  such things as Salsa....and Thai Peanut Noodles.  No wonder a person could get skinny by eating.....Thai Peanut Noodles sound just awful.....the only redeeming thing is the recipe had Sriracha chilli sauce which happens to be a favorite of mine.  But peanut butter in noodles????

If I had to eat these recipes, no wonder I would be eating myself skinny....so I had to continue my web search for easy ways to get skinny.  Then I ran across the headlines "Cook Yourself Thin".  Why on earth would I want to cook myself????  I think this title had a little grammar problem.  If I literally went by this headline and followed the title, no wonder I would be skinny as I would be cooking parts of myself to get rid of the fat.  Watch out Herbivores and vegetarians.  All at once I am a carnivore who is a cannibal.  And, if I sprayed myself with purple paint, I would be the purple people eater.

My search for the fairy tale to come true continued......then I found the only true answer.....Get Skinny on your own......get mentally ready.....throw out the chocolate cake and the cocoa mix and the bridge mix and the chocolate syrup (no more chocolate cokes wahhh) and the maple syrup and the thousand of other high calorie high fat content foods.  Go to the store and get lots of lettuce....fill your refrigerator with lettuce and carrots and celery and cabbage and cauliflower and broccoli.  You need to fill your refrigerator so full that when you open the door, this low calorie stuff falls at your feet just like it's worshiping you.  Just know that with lots of cauliflower and cabbage and broccoli, you are going to have more gas than you've ever had in your life.  It will be called "tootin the day away.  You might even want to forgo these items and decide to stay fat...that's how bad that gas in your old colon will be!

And then comes the exercising.  You will want to stretch in place so that you don't do too much damage to your body when you start these strenuous exercises.  Walking ten miles a day is on the agenda....then running in place for 20 minutes......58 jumping jacks.....62 sit-ups......go buy an airdyne bike for $750.00 so you can exercise for 30 minutes 8 times a day.  All of this designed to make you skinny.  Believe me, if I bought the airdyne at $750, I would be skinny because I wouldn't have any money to buy food......and if I did all of these exercises I would be lying in a coffin for eternity....that's a way to get skinny...not my choice but it is a way.

Now I just have to decide if it will old, ugly and fat or skinny.  Just to let you know my next projects....it will be to find ways to turn ugly to beautiful as well as turning old to young by finding the fountain of youth.  Big projects!!

Tidbits about Lincoln, Illinois:

Lincoln was the first city to be named after Abraham Lincoln BEFORE he was famous.  Abe was the attorney for the then unnamed city.  The founding fathers asked him if they could name the city after him and he agreed.  In 1853, near the site of the train depot, Abraham Lincoln used watermelon juice to christen the city Lincoln, Illinois.

The gator boys on television sure are funky.  Who in the world would ever want to get in the water with an alligator and wrestle it?    And what is this when one of them sticks his head in the alligator's mouth???  That is just not right.....is it the sign of a gator boy who is operating one egg short of a dozen?

I realize that sometimes that residents of Florida might wake up to a gator in their pool or maybe the local high class golf club might have a gator swimming in their golf course pond and someone has to get these buggers out of these gator oasis but........do they have to go out in the ugly and gator infested swamps and get em......wow.

I think I will see what else is on the boob tube in the gator time slot.  It might save me from taking a hand full of anxiety pills.  (Shudder--Shake)

Recipe

I love Salmon Patties but didn't eat them for years because I had always fried them in margarine.  With the availability of the fat free cooking spray I learned I could make the patties and spray them and bake them and they are still just as good.

Salmon Patties
1 can pink salmon
1 egg
1/4 cup minced onion
1/4 cup flour
1/4 to 1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs or crushed crackers
salt and pepper

Drain juice and save in case you need to add some to the mixture.  Take out the bones if desired.  Mix the egg and onion with the salmon until sticky, then add the flour and crumbs.  If it is too dry add some of the salmon juice.  Form into patties and put on a baking sheet which has been sprayed with Pam or other fat free spray....then spray the patties.  Bake at 350 degrees F until brown.  Turn over at about 15 minutes.

Thought For The Day

If poverty is the mother of crime,
stupidity is its father.
--Jean de la Bruyere

Yesterday I heard a noise and went to investigate.  I saw only the dog and a pile of books lying on the floor beside the dog. She was lying quietly with her eyes closed just as if she were pretending sleep.

Since the dog seems to understand English better than any dog we ever had I thought I would ask her what happened.  She sure does understand the words "eat, ride, go pee, outside, food, upstairs, basement, bath and many many more".

Since this old dog is so well versed in the English language I pointed to the books and asked her "what is the kerfuffle doggie?"  She didn't move.  I knew right then she was the culprit....she somehow got those books to fall.  Not long ago she was mad since we were gone and pulled some stuff from the coffee table and promptly chewed it up....of course it was important...something I had to send somewhere.

This dog is nearing 13 and she is reverting to her childhood.  She chews up things, she whines and wants her way all of the time.  Doghood antics of a young dog it seems.  But of course she is like a member of the family....she gets her way.  So I picked up the books and went away.  I put them higher this time because I didn't want them destroyed......so this time she went upstairs and dug through the laundry basket and got my socks out and chewed holes in two pairs.

This is certainly not the first time she has chewed my socks when she is upset with me....I buy more socks than any person I know because I somehow get big holes in them....teeth marks believe me.

Doggie is going to spend a few nights in the cold garage is she doesn't watch it......dang dog!
