Bustery Winds...After near 50+ degrees here

Wake up we live in Illinois not Florida....

35 to 38 mph wind gusts today......and a 27 degree high for today  with a few snow flurries possible, 12 degrees by tomorrow morning,  but by Friday 54 degrees.  Lordy....is this Florida, the North Pole or Illinois?  Oh sorry it's Illinois that's why it's this way.

Remember last year on Christmas Eve we had 5.5 inches of snow in a snowstorm...then on New Years Eve it was so warm a tornado hit Lake Petersburg houses.  IT'S ILLINOIS FOLKS!  You never know what the weather might bring to us.  One would think that lifelong residents would become used to this unpredictableness (is that a word?)  But I have never gotten used to it....and hate Illinois weather.....I should move and be a southerner.....in my next life I have decided that that I will live in the south where it's hot and humid....I love it!

Today's forecast is a high of 27 and by Friday it will be 54.....gloves, mittens, long johns, scarfs and parka today and the possibility of shorts/capris on Friday.....furnace today and no furnace on Friday....open windows instead.  You gotta love it.....  But as I see it, we have had no measurable snow thus far with fairly mild temperatures so it's rather hard to be too mad at old Mother Nature....it could have been a lot worse.  Mother Nature is helping with our heating bills this year.

But .....  the winds have been pretty bad for two days....and no relief for today either.  Our SUV has a high profile and the wind has a heyday with trying to blow it off the highway.

Off to find my gloves and scarfs and to pull our my warm coat.  I'm going to need it today!!

Recipe For A Good Day In The New Year

In these days of financial unrest and political turmoil, we all need a recipe for good days ahead in the new year.  This is one I found.  Perhaps if everyone follows this recipe, the world might be a better place.

 Recipe for a Good Day

1 huge measure of faith
An equal portion of work
1 full cup of courage
1 small can of patience
A constant sprinkling of prayer
1 level teaspoon of meditation
1 pinch each of fun, good humor and cheerfulness
2 heaping tablespoons of compromise
Enough love to tie it all together
Mix together all ingredients and garnish with extra love.

No more shackles no more chains.....no more hurrying out going present shopping (except for general things) or grocery shopping for 20 people or half and half for candy .... you know what I mean.  It was a hassle!

There is no one who loves the holidays as much as me but believe me there is also no one who is more glad to get everything over with when it's all put to bed for another year's time.

Now, I will sit back and still plug in the decorated tree because I like the way it looks and hate to put it away for another 11+ month period.  Plus we are celebrating Twelvetide....or commonly known as the 12 days of Christmas, which began on December 25 and will end on January 5.  People in the United States don't usually celebrate this...but we do.  Just because.....

Today is the last day off work for many but some had to go in to work......time to get down to business until the next holiday which is a long time unless you are lucky enough to work for the State of Illinois who seem to give people days off for nose picking and other ungodly reasons.....by the way who the h*ll is Casimer Pulaski?  And why do state workers get the day off for him ???  And school is even out.  Casimer is ranked right up there with Abraham Lincoln and Christopher Columbus with his own day off....but I still don't know who he is as he wasn't in our school books when I went to school.

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country....just thought I would practice typing that since it's time for me to buckle down and start writing good things....and work on a novel which is started but that's about it.....and maybe those children's books that I have drafts of.....maybe......I will find the time to do some honest work this year.

Have a good day....see you another day....toodles!
