Pizza Anyone?

Pizza Pizza Pizza...it's in the topping.

Pick up the phone and order the pizza....large, medium, small,  or orangutan sized.  Now comes the toppings.  Will it be the standard "house specialty" which usually has sausage, onions, green peppers and cheese.  Or will it be your favorite mouth watering combination of toppings?

It might have pepperoni.  It might have mushrooms.  Or, it might have ham and canadian bacon.  Or, it might all of these.  Or, better yet it might have everything on the menu but anchovies.  For some reason most people don't want those little fish, with their eyeballs, lying in the pizza sauce.....maybe it's the salty brine those fish have been swimming in since the day they were caught and put in a can.  Or, maybe no one wants to look a fish eyeball in the eye.

I personally can't stand the idea of pineapple on my pizza.  To me that's dessert and if I wanted a dessert pizza I would order one with real goodies on it, including sugar and chocolate and maybe marshmallows.  Hmmmm a chocolate pizza sure sounds good to me now that I've mentioned dessert and chocolate.  I've had dessert pizzas and they are wonderful.

Back to talking about normal pizzas though, I think I will just hang up the phone and get on my bib and tucker and just go to the best pizza house in this area.....Gabatoni's.  Yummy.  That thin crust just melts in your mouth.  And their sauce is one I can stand (some are so bad I just have a hard time eating the pizza).  Gabatoni's has been around for so long, they are an area icon.  Good food and when you go there it's obvious....as you probably will have to wait in line unless you get there early.

Pizza.....the USA ticket to good food.  Pizza's here.....time to go.

Greenview Christian Church
The history of the Greenview Christian church.  Taken from Greenview's 125th year book.  This will be in multiple post articles due to the length....watch for additional posts on the Church history in upcoming blog posts in the next week or so.  Sorry for the different types of font....I forgot to change it and had too much typed to go back and re-type...LOL

" In 1825, a group of followers of the restoration movement organized the Sugar Grove Christian Church.  This group built their fist building one mile southwest of Sweetwater, Illinois; and it was this group of Christians which gave birth to the Greenview Christian Church in 1869.

From a report of the clerk of the Sweetwater Christian Church, we read the following: "hereas a considerable number of the brethren and sisters belonging to the church at Sweetwater, now living in or near Greenview. and it not being convenient for them to meet regularly for worship at Sweetwater, it  was therefore agreed at a regular meeting at Sweetwater on the first Lord's Day in March, 1869:  That the Brethren at Greenview should rent Sampson's Hall for one year at a cost of $150.00, one-half of which they should pay, and the other half be paid by the Sweetwater brethren.  Brother Raney, who was then in the employ of the church should visit and preach for the Greenview brethren once each month.  Brother D. T Hughes also agreeing to preach at the same place once per month for one year, and so on the second Lord's Day in Marcy, 1869, a few brethren and sisters met in Sampson Hall, for worship and preaching by D. T. Hughes."

The group continued to meet at said hall at least twice a month according to the agreement.  During this time, of course, the group meetings at Greenview were considered a part of the Sweetwater Church.

An Evangelistic meeting began in Sampson Hall on the first Saturday evening of November, 1869.  During this meeting, which lasted for some 30 days, it was mutually agreed between the officers and members of the Sugar Grove congregation and the brethren at Greenview to form another church.  On the third Lord's Day in November, the opportunity was given to those who wished to become members of the new church to signify this by sitting in the front seats of the Hall.  Twenty-one elected to place their membership in the Greenview Church.  During the remainder of the year twenty-two additional members were added to the new congregation.

February 12, 1872, is a date of significance in our history. On that date, several members met to take preliminary steps to building a house of worship.  No one could know then that there would be 18 years pass before the little congregation would have its own building.  During these years, they met in harmony with the Baptists in their church house.  Finally, with much perseverance among the men and women, on September 21, 1890, the first church building was dedicated....debt free....to the Service of God.

......to be continued...watch for future posts.

Thought For The Day
Change your life today.  Don't gamble on
the future, act now, without delay.
--Simone de Beauvoir

If you believe that today is going to be better than the day before yesterday in year 2015, then I know a bridge in Brooklyn that's for sale  as well as ocean side property in Arizona.  How in the world can any one of us know what's in store for us later this afternoon, let alone the day before yesterday in year 2015.

We can always wish for a better tomorrow because today is not always the best day.....the hope is that tomorrow will be better.  For me, everyday is a blessing....just glad I'm seeing the top side of grass and not the roots of the grass.  This is the reason when someone asks me how I am, I always respond "I'm still on this side of the grass!"

Let us all remember that the majority of people look at us at this age as being old.  You might hear that age 60 is the new age 40 but I think that's bunk in the eyes of most....we look old because we are.  People see us as old and that's a stigma....but let's face it....getting old is a loss of youth, loss of a good functioning body, loss of good eyesight, loss of memory, loss of muscle tone, and being steroetyped even though some of us don't deserve it.  We aren't all ready for the grave.....we still have some kick.  So as far as social stigma....I say blow it out your gazoo youngsters....one of these days you will be here too.
