If you read yesterday's special weekend post, you can see that relatives and friends of Kegan's abusers are on a crusade to step up the war on child abuse. All abusers should be stopped, prosecuted and sent to live in the jail house where fellow prisoners don't like child abusers.
The church never taught me that heaven has garbage cans sitting around waiting for people to throw their unwanted desires, problems and general garbage away. But when you look around this big earth on which we live, there are people who should be stuffed into a huge garbage can with a tight lid. These are the preditors, who on a day to day basis, abuse children. They are garbage in my opinion!
Some abuse is more than bruises and broken bones. Emotional abuse and child neglect can leave long lasting scars. Maltreatment is a form of abuse. Abandonment is another form of abuse. Physical abuse can result from beatings, kickings, burning, slapping and other forms of torture. Some abusers give drugs and alcohol to children. And one of the worse is sexual abuse of a child. But the ultimately most horrible abuse crime is death of a child by the hand of an abuser.
All abuse is a moral crime. And I believe a prison sentence is too good for those who abuse. These people are garbage and should go to hell in a garbage can.
I'm sure you can see I feel strongly about child abuse. In Kegan's case, he died as the result of his abuse. Unfortunately, his autopsy was performed by former Sangamon County's Susan Boone's staff member Jessica Bowman, MD who has since left the coroner's office and is forbidden to perform autopsies. Her report indicates that death is undetermined. You saw the bruises on his face....her report says "no significant injuries" and therefore, no police agency wants to prosecute even though pictures prove there was. I'm sure you've seen other media reports on the incompetency of this prior coroner's office staff member. Her report let a child abuser go free. DHS also had reports prior to his death but didn't take action. No one wants to get involved in child abuse. WHY???
There are some people who steal kids and keep them for years. If you have children or grandchildren, make sure they always play in a safe environment. Abuse or child abduction can occur even in a village like Greenview. Pedophiles don't waste time .... abduction is quick and then the child is gone and perhaps forever and in some cases result in death.
The next time you have the opportunity to support the war on child abuse, give your time and if you can, donate. Learn to recognize the signs of abuse. And by all means, don't hesitate to report a suspected abuse. Remember that heaven has no garbage cans, but earth has plenty available to receive a child abuser on the way to hell's journey.
Kegan's grandmother grew up in Greenview and this has been so hard on her and the family. In Kegan's case, heaven needed another angel. He was an angel on earth and now he is watching over other little children from his window in heaven.

Another Heat Wave
Protect yourself today. Drink lots of fluids. High forecasted for 93, with heat indices of 105 to 110 degrees F. The humidity index is in the mid 70's so people with breathing problems could be affected. Take care that you aren't exposed too long to the heat. It's better to be safe than sorry.
Tick Removal And Other Things To Know
People who live in the country or those who go to parks frequently, sometimes are plagued with tick attachment. It literally makes me cringe when one of these buggers buries it's head in my skin. All I can picture is this natsy vermin's germs and bacteria crawling up my bloodstream and sliding down my veins and arteries. Of course peolpe with dogs also are faced with tick problems.
You probably know that most people use the "light a match and blow it out and put the hot tip on the tick" to get him to back his head out. I have found that a cotton ball saturated with liquid soap and then held on the tick will usually make him back out and he will land up on the cotton ball. Try this the next time you have a tick buried in you or your dogs skin. ICKY!
If flies or bees are bothering you, spray them with hairspray....down they go.
If your microwave is dirty and you know that it will take lots of scrubbing to clean it.....just put a damp hand towel in the microwave and run it for 2 minutes. This will create lots of steam on the sides...you can simply wipe down the walls and the dirt comes off. Be careful when you remove the towel...it will be super hot.
To clean artificial flowers, put in a paper bag, and add some salt. Shake a few times.....result is dust free flowers which look new.
If you oversalt something you are boiling, peel a potato and drop it in the boiling item....the potato will absorb salt....then discard the potato before the potato gets done/soft.

If you have ever visited the south, you might have eaten some "Red Beans and Rice". Travelling with my job through the years, I loved going places which made this delightful dish. We now eat a lot of beans because of the health benefits...and red beans are no exception. Protein, iron, fiber and most of all the antioxidants rates the highest of all foods....and reduces risk of heart disease, cancer and other illnesses.
I developed this Red Beans and Rice recipe after many attempts. It's simple, yet really good and cheap to make. Sometimes I use sausage and sometimes I use chopped smoked sausage.....and sometimes I use both if making a big recipe of this. I serve this with a salad and buttered bread.
Red Beans and Rice
1/2 pound bulk sausage (or 1/2 pound chopped smoked sausage)
1 cup chopped onions
1 1/2 teaspoons taco seasoning
1 1/2 - 2 cups cooked rice
1 can chili beans undrained
1/2 small can tomato sauce
water as needed
Cook sausage and onions. Drain grease. Add taco seasoning, undrained beans and tomato sauce and stir....heat on low, stirring frequently. Add rice after about 5 minutes and heat....add water as needed to keep from sticking. Cook on low to prevent burning/sticking. Can add additional taco seasoning if desired.....I have before...depends on the type of chili beans....and I have substitued chili mix for the taco mix in a pinch.
Learn A New Word
The following is a new word which has recently been coined into the English language. Remember we are learning new words so Greenviewanites will be the smartest in the county!
Agritourism - a form of tourism in which tourists stay on farms or in agriculture villages and often participate in farm activities.

Thought Of The Day
After all is said and done,
a lot more will have been said than done.

Monday's sometimes are the tough days. It's the first day of the week and a person's power button hasn't yet been pushed to the "go" spot. The spark hasn't been lit and life's inspiration has not yet hit. For some, it takes at least a couple of days to get going.....but remember what Helen Keller always said "We can do anything if we stick to it long enough."
Perhaps you partied too hardy over the weekend and it was hard to get up and go Monday. Or maybe you did too many things and the tired body just won't function yet. I once read an article which said Mondays are the most depressing for people and most people don't crack a smile until after 11 am. Lots of employees are late to work on Mondays and production numbers for Mondays are at a low point! Yet there are some people who are gung ho on Monday and do their best work....and will work at full and sometimes excessive speed all day.
Some of this makes me wonder if the person who comes in to work on Monday full of vim and vigor and works like a madman....will he/she burn themself out mid-week and be fit for nothing as they wait for the weekend to recoup. And will the Monday person who comes in tired and late, get settled in for a long week's work and will reach high production numbers and will even stay over on Friday evening for a while to make sure the week's work is done. During my career as a management person, I saw all of these types. People are not the same and never will be.
As I prepare for my Monday, I'm not depressed but I'm not rip roaring either. I know that Monday comes once every week and there isn't a whole lot I can do about it. Today, I will be just another Greenviewanite, who has things to do....and I'm gonna do them "My Way" .... until Tuesday begins. See you....
